Pickleball is picking up serious momentum in Malaysia, and the opening of Penang’s largest pickleball facility in Jelutong is proof that the sport’s rise is only just beginning. The newly launched G.O.A.T Pickleball venue brings with it 12 high-quality courts—including two built to international standards—cementing its place as a national hub for play, training, and community building.
A New Home for Pickleball in Penang
Located in the heart of Jelutong, the G.O.A.T facility is more than just a court complex—it’s a purpose-driven space designed to bring players of all ages and skill levels together. With a focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and performance, it offers a welcoming atmosphere for both newcomers and seasoned competitors.
Officiating the launch, Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim highlighted how the sport embodies the values of unity and wellness. “Sports should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background,” she said. She praised pickleball’s unique ability to “bring people together through teamwork and friendly competition.”

A Tournament to Remember
To mark the opening in style, the G.O.A.T Pickleball Tournament 2025 was also officially launched. With a prize pool of RM50,000 and more than 350 participants from across Malaysia, the tournament has already made waves in the national pickleball scene. The event reflects not only the sport’s growing popularity but also the energy and passion of its expanding community.
Community-Driven Growth
The grand opening was attended by Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Nicholas Theng, alongside G.O.A.T directors Nick Lee and Kenny Ooi, who have played key roles in establishing the facility as a platform for growth, learning, and connection.
By providing a dedicated space for competitive and casual play alike, G.O.A.T is helping to foster a stronger and more connected pickleball community in Penang and beyond.
