Singapore is set to welcome an exciting milestone for pickleball coaching! On 29 March 2025, the Asia Federation Pickleball (AFP) will host the PPR Level 1 Coach Certification—an essential course designed for instructors working with beginner and intermediate players. Taking place at Dover Court International School, this full-day workshop is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your coaching skills and support the rapid rise of pickleball across Southeast Asia.

Whether you're an experienced player looking to step into coaching or already guiding new athletes and eager to refine your methods, this certification offers the tools, techniques, and credentials to help you thrive.

What Makes This Certification Special?

As pickleball surges in popularity throughout Asia, the demand for qualified coaches is growing fast. Earning your PPR Level 1 Certification ensures you're equipped to:

  • Teach the fundamentals to new players

  • Deliver high-quality coaching sessions

  • Earn globally recognized credentials

  • Play a key role in growing the sport across the region

Led by expert clinicians, the workshop provides a hands-on, interactive experience where you'll build confidence in your coaching while connecting with fellow pickleball enthusiasts.

Who Can Join?

To enroll, participants should have a minimum player rating of 3.5. If you're unsure of your current rating, you can self-evaluate using international guidelines or participate in an AFP-sanctioned tournament to receive an official rating.

How to Get Ready

Preparation is essential for success. Once you secure your spot, you'll receive a comprehensive study guide and access to online video coursework. It's recommended to review these materials thoroughly before attending, as the in-person workshop builds directly on this content.

What Will You Be Tested On?

Certification is based on three key areas:

  • Written Knowledge: Completed online after the workshop.

  • Playing Skills: Demonstrating sound technique on the court.

  • Coaching Abilities: Effectively leading players through drills and instruction.

Your final certification rating will reflect the lowest score across these categories, so balanced preparation is key!

Expect a five-hour, on-court training session, so plan ahead and pack accordingly. Here's what to bring:

  • Your pickleball paddle

  • Comfortable court shoes and extra socks

  • Plenty of water

  • Small snacks or energy bites

  • Sunscreen

While short breaks are scheduled throughout the day, there are no formal meal periods—so come well-fed, hydrated, and ready to stay active.

Why Get Certified?

Beyond joining a network of accredited coaches, successful participants will have their contact information listed on the AFP website, making it easy for players and clubs to reach out for coaching opportunities.

Registration Info

The course fee is SGD $420, and spaces are limited. To ensure ample time for preparation and secure your place, early registration is highly encouraged.

Be Part of the Future of Pickleball in Asia

With the sport rapidly growing across the region, qualified coaches are more vital than ever. This certification is more than just a professional credential—it's your chance to support the pickleball movement and help more players discover the game we all love.
