Honoring History Through Sport

Gathering over 400 athletes from 55 delegations, including local departments, military units, and pickleball clubs, this year’s tournament was a true community celebration. Players competed across 13 exciting events, from men’s and women’s doubles to special matches featuring department leaders, showing that pickleball in Dien Bien welcomes participants of all backgrounds and skill levels.

More than just a competition, the Viettel Cup served as a tribute to key national milestones: the 95th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the upcoming 50th anniversary of national reunification, and the enduring values of unity and perseverance that continue to shape the country.

Growing the Game, Strengthening Community

Beyond the matches, the tournament created a space for athletes to connect, hone their skills, and enjoy the shared passion of pickleball. For many, it was also an opportunity to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle inspired by Great Uncle Ho’s example, promoting fitness and well-being across Dien Bien and beyond.

A New Chapter for Pickleball in Dien Bien

Played across eight dedicated courts behind the provincial multi-purpose sports hall, the tournament set a new benchmark for pickleball in the region. With such strong support from local organizations and an enthusiastic turnout, Dien Bien is quickly becoming a driving force in northern Vietnam’s pickleball scene.

As the sport continues to flourish across Asia, the success of the 2025 Viettel Cup proves that pickleball is more than just a game—it’s a movement fueled by community, connection, and a shared love of play.

And with momentum like this, the future of pickleball in Asia looks brighter than ever.
