Pickleball Tournament Sparks Enthusiasm in PPU Regency’s 23rd Anniversary Celebration

North Penajam Paser (PPU) Regency is celebrating its 23rd anniversary with a burst of competitive energy, thanks to the Student Pickleball Tournament officially opened by Regional Secretary (Sekda) Tohar. The event, which kicked off on February 13, 2025, is bringing together young athletes from various schools across the region, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for pickleball in Indonesia.


The tournament, spanning three days from February 13 to February 15, was held at the Dome, Kilometer 08 Nipah-nipah. With 224 athletes from 35 schools participating, the competition was expected to be a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship, adding vibrancy to the regency’s anniversary celebrations.

A Platform for Emerging Talent

In his opening remarks, Tohar praised the efforts of the Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) of PPU Regency in organizing the tournament. He emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and excellence among students.


"We sincerely appreciate Disdikpora PPU for making this tournament possible. Hopefully, through this competition, top athletes will emerge, capable of competing at higher levels and bringing pride to our region," said Tohar.


With participation from students at the elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels, the tournament serves as a platform for young players to develop their skills and gain competitive experience. It is also an opportunity to identify and nurture talent that could represent PPU Regency on national and international stages.
