Viet Yen Town successfully hosted the highly anticipated Pickleball Tournament, "Giving Wings to Children's Dreams," on March 2, 2025. Organized by the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of the town, the Farmers' Association, and Agribank Viet Yen branch, this heartwarming event united athletes, officials, and community members in a celebration of sportsmanship and social responsibility.

A Grand Gathering for a Noble Cause

The tournament was honored by the presence of distinguished officials, including Pham Thi Hang, Permanent Vice President of the Women's Union of Bac Giang province, and Nguyen Hong Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Town Party Committee and Chairman of the Town People's Council. Several other key leaders from various town committees and organizations also attended, reinforcing the event's importance within the local community.

120 Competitors Showcasing Passion and Skill

A total of 120 athletes from various clubs, agencies, and organizations, both within and beyond Viet Yen, participated in the tournament. The competition featured four exciting categories: Men’s Leadership Pairs, Men’s Pairs A, Men’s Pairs B, and Women’s Pairs (regardless of age). Each match was filled with energy, camaraderie, and a commitment to fair play.

Pickleball as a Bridge for Community and Charity

Beyond the excitement of the games, the tournament served as a platform for unity and goodwill. Participants exemplified solidarity, integrity, and athletic excellence, making this event more than just a competition. It provided an opportunity for pickleball enthusiasts to exchange knowledge, build friendships, and enhance their overall well-being.

Most importantly, the tournament was dedicated to a meaningful cause, supporting underprivileged children through two key initiatives: the "Godmother" program and the "Helping Children Go to School" campaign. During the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented valuable gifts to 10 orphans and children facing hardship in Viet Yen Town, each receiving support worth 3 million VND. This generous act underscored the tournament’s deeper mission of spreading joy and hope beyond the court.

Recognizing Excellence and Elegance

After an intense series of matches, the tournament concluded with an inspiring award ceremony. First, Second, and Third place medals were distributed across all four categories, recognizing the outstanding performance of the top athletes. Additionally, a special award was presented to the female athlete with the best costume, celebrating both talent and elegance in the sport.

Promoting Health, Sportsmanship, and Patriotism

More than just a competition, this event embodied the values of health, athleticism, and civic pride. The tournament played a crucial role in commemorating significant national and local events in 2025 while encouraging an active lifestyle. It also aligned with the broader movement to promote physical activity, inspired by the campaign "All People Exercise Following the Example of Great Uncle Ho."

By fostering a passion for pickleball and strengthening community bonds, the "Giving Wings to Children's Dreams" tournament has set a new benchmark for future sporting events in Viet Yen. As pickleball continues to grow in Vietnam, this tournament stands as a testament to the power of sports in bringing people together for a greater cause—empowering the next generation while embracing a healthy and active lifestyle.
